1. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Stay
About the destination: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a city which offers sun, sea and an exceptional historic legacy. Mild temperatures throughout the year make for an enjoyable seaside resort that's popular with both Spanish and foreign tourists alike. This cosmopolitan city, the biggest in the Canaries, presents an eclectic mix of cultures: the aboriginal Guanche culture, its colonial past and the mainland-Spain feel in an African landscape create a distinctive character. The city’s old quarter, La Vegueta, preserves colonial architecture from the 15th and 16th centuries in its beautiful courtyards and balconies. This lively neighbourhood was declared a Unesco World Heritage site in 1990. It's also a focal point for some of the island's best cafes, bars and restaurants. Check out Las Palmas’ numerous museums, including the interesting Museo Canario, with its fascinating mummies and trepanned skulls belonging to aboriginal Canarians. For the more adventurous travellers, there are tons of activities to enjoy from surfing, swimming and sailing to scuba diving, snorkelling, abseiling, bungee jumping and paragliding. And let’s not forget, here you’ll find some of the best nightlife in the region.

About the destination: La Aldea de San Nicolás is the westernmost municipality of the island of Gran Canaria in the Las Palmas province of the Canary Islands. Its full name was, until 2005,[3] La Aldea de San Nicolás de Tolentino, and the locals simply call it La Aldea. Its population is 8,228 (2013), and the area is 123.58 km². Its elevation is about 33m. La Aldea de San Nicolás is located about 38 km southwest of the island capital Las Palmas. It is situated among forested mountain valleys overlooking the Atlantic, and most families work on the tomato-farms, as well as growing potatoes and other vegetables and fruits, irrigated by reservoirs that collect winter rain. Tourism is also a significant industry, though not as much as in the South of the island. San Nicolás is the birthplace of Román Rodríguez Rodríguez, President of the Canary Islands from 1999-2003.

About the destination: Maspalomas is a tourist town in the south of the island of Gran Canaria. The town of Maspalomas is formed by the pond of the same name, the dunes and the palm tree grove, all of them with a great ecological value. The district has a total of 29 beaches and coves, including the beaches of Inglés, Maspalomas and San Agustín, all of which hold the blue flag awarded by the European Union. The more up-market Maspalomas resort, with smart hotels, luxury residences and the largest golf course on the island, is separated from Playa del Inglés by a spectacular stretch of 400 hectares of dunes, which in 1994 were designated a national park. You can only cross the dunes on foot or by camel, which makes you believe you’re in a different part of the world altogether.
