Llessui Spain

Llessui is a village in the municipality of Sort, in the region of Pallars Sobirà, in the Catalan Pyrenees. Until 1976 he was head of an independent municipality, annexed to Sort that year. It also included the neighborhood of La Torre and the village and monastery of Saurí. It is in the northeast of Sort, in the Vall d'Àssua, at an altitude of 1,417.3 meters, between the hill of Torena (1677 m) and the left bank of the Pamano ravine, at the foot of the Montsent massif. The town of Llessui, together with other places in the Àssua valley and the town hall of Sort, inspired the writer Jaume Cabré to write the successful novel Les veus del Pamano (Proa, 2004). Among the outstanding elements of Llessui are the ruins of the parish church of Sant Pere and the remains of the chapel of Sant Salvador. There had also been, in the surroundings of Llessui, the Castle of Torena and the Tower.
