About the destination: Istanbul owes its historic importance and its amazing cultural and architectural heritage to its perfect strategic location, straddling the Bosphorus straits which separate Europe and Asia Minor. Through most of its 2,500-year-long history, the city (first known as Byzantium, then as Constantinople and since 1930 as Istanbul) was a cultural melting pot. Today, its population of more than 13 million is almost exclusively Turkish, and many of its people are recent migrants from provincial Turkey, lured by the promise of jobs and careers in this vibrant, fast-growing city. About the destination: The coastal town of Mombasa is the second largest city in Kenya. Located in the South-Eastern part of Kenya, it is East Africa’s largest port and it is Kenya’s major tourist destination. The town is full of Indian influences as well as Arab, Swahili, and Bajuni. Mombasa undoubtedly has one of the best white sandy beaches and coral reefs that Africa has to offer. Zanzibar is an infusion of Arabic, Indian and African cultures. There is a lot to see and to do on Zanzibar Island. First and foremost, do enjoy the amazing white sand beaches especially at the north, east and south coast. The sand has the consistency of castor sugar. Zanzibar also has quite a lot of caves, as Tazani near Nungwi. Also do a village tour that are offered all over the island. The market in Stone Town, the enchanting capital, is one of the largest, most vibrant open-air markets anywhere. It doesn’t get any better than Zanzibar.
