The city of Savannah is located in the State of Georgia, and is the seat of the County of Chatham, near the mouth of the Savannah River. The city was founded in the 18th century, making it the oldest city in Georgia, and at the same time the third largest city in the State of Georgia by number of inhabitants the city was founded with the arrival of general James Edward Oglethorpe in February 12, 1733, as part of the Scottish colonization of the Americas.
