In the nearby Place du Marche, there is a flea market every weekend. The area surrounding the Citadelle, Terra Nova neighbourhood, is one of the most colourful parts of town. Stroll around the Palace of the Governors once grand gardens, Jardin Romieu, from where you can enjoy a view of the Vieux Port, the Old Port. The Vieux Port is a wonderful part of the city, with tall, faded buildings surrounding a marina with posh yachts. Corsica’s most successful commercial town is a lively and charming place with a wonderful port, interesting architecture, good restaurants and many cultural events. Bastia is much more than sun and sand.
